รายละเอียดสินค้า

Overall length: 752 mm. The photo shows the kit assembled and painted.

The Yamato was the first of the Yamato-class battleships, the last to be built by the Imperial Japanese Navy. Its standard displacement reached 64,000 tons, far surpassing that of other nations’ battleships, and it was equipped with nine 46cm guns, the world’s largest and most powerful, in three triple turrets. It has earned a place in history as the largest battleship ever built. Construction was carried out under strict secrecy and completed in December 1941. From February 1942, it served as flagship of the Combined Fleet, with Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, commander-in-chief, aboard. It participated in the Battle of Midway in June 1942, the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944, and the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October. It was lost to an attack by U.S. Navy aircraft en route to Okinawa in April 1945. Yamato never had the opportunity to prove its worth against American and British battleships. However, the innovative shipbuilding technologies cultivated through the construction of these ships became the foundation for Japan’s postwar recovery as a shipbuilding powerhouse.
