The Citra hop is a high alpha acid hop with a strong, yet smooth floral and citrus aroma and flavor.

It has specific aroma descriptors that include grapefruit, citrus, peach, melon, lime, gooseberry, passion fruit and lychee and a smooth bitterness when added to the boil. Citra is one of the newest additions to the American hop family. It has created quite a buzz in the homebrewing, and craft brewing worlds.

As its name implies, it is strongly citrus, with hints of pine and mango layered in.

It is sought after for its aroma qualities, but many report excellent results with using it for bittering as well.

An excellent hop to blend in hop bills of American Pale Ales and IPAs.
